This week’s Kansas City Week in Review on KCPT took a look at the new terminal discussion. This conversation was sparked by the Kansas City Star article from a week ago (discussed here) that revealed data that we had discussed (here) a month earlier. Remarkably, they reach consensus that a new terminal is unlikely to attract more flights — and then decide that that is exactly why we should build a new terminal. Really. Some things you just cannot make up.
So we now have one camp who says we should build a terminal to attract more flights and another camp who says we should build a terminal because it will not attract more flights.
Credit to Dave Helling who pointed out that fewer flights will make it even harder to pay for any new terminal. He also did a nice job reviewing airport finances a few weeks ago (click here if you missed it.)
Anyway, watch the video because again, you can’t make this stuff up.
Typical liberal “it’s not my money” thinking. Spend first, worry about logic and paying for it later.
